Wedding bells are ringing because it's a Christmas wedding time! Are you all ready to shoot the greatest and the most romantic pictures of all time? Here are 5 brilliant tips to make sure no problem comes your way through the process:

1. IT'S NOT A PHOTOSHOOT!

Keep in mind that you're not at a photoshoot where the pictures are the most important but at a wedding. If you end up behaving like you are the most important person the couple won’t thank you for it. Find some middle ground between them having a good time and you capturing what you need.

2. BRING A TRIPOD

It may be tough to carry around a tripod all through the ceremony and that's fair because you will have quite some moving around to do. But it's sensible to use the tripod when there's some calmness in the environment and you can click wonderful pictures with slow shutter speed and flash under the night sky. That way you'll give the couple a lot to thank for and quite a few calls from people who appreciate your photography.

3. DON'T GO SOLO

You absolutely cannot carry all the accessories alone. A helping hand is a must in wedding photography. You also need someone to assist in managing the light, taking the test shots, and capturing the scenes that you might be missing.
You can ask a wedding photographer to become your assistant and become their second shooter at their next event. It’s a smart way to work on a low budget and get help from an experienced wedding photographer.

4. CAPTURE THE FIRSTS

Even though every photo is a memory forever, you should capture moments like the first kiss, first dance, first look, etc, because these will be etched in their minds forever and every time they look at the album, they'll see these moments. You have to be attentive during these moments because they happen very fast. It is recommended that you plan the time for these very first moments with the couple, so you can capture the best shots in the right order. Put the camera on high shutter speed and take multiple photos, so you have a choice of selecting the best ones from numerous pictures. These firsts are the backbone of your wedding

5. SHOOT THE REACTIONS

It's pretty obvious that the lovely bride and groom are the focus of the wedding and all their firsts and beautiful moments need to be captured firsthand.
But you might notice that the people surrounding them enjoy these moments for the couple quite eagerly and those expressions deserve to be captured and treasured. Whilst you are caught up shooting the firsts of the lovely couple, do ask your assistant to click the reactions of the people they love around them. The expressions of their friends and family truly make the wedding experience more cherishable. Ask your assistant to capture swiftly as many photos as he can as this will be something that the couple can look back into with a smile at a later stage in their beautiful life together.

Weddings are beautiful but they can also be very stressful. Keep yourself calm throughout and don't let self-proclaimed photographers annoy you. Make sure you capture the best of the bride, groom and their families before you move on to the other guests.

Happy photography!
